Hello Fred, The lack of communication by the board, especially our "Number 1 Sascha" is one of our biggest problems in the ABBUC today. In the topics on ABBUC.de you can read that several members habe written lots of PMs to him in the last months, but he seems to ignore all of them. For example: On September 1st he told members that he has all parts for building the Fujinet-Devices for the ABBUC-Shop and promised to bring them to NOMAM in November. He attended the meeting, but he had no Fujinets with him there. He even does not answer mails from Dirk, and he is the Vize-President of ABBUC. Such a behavior is a no go in this position!

Hi Markus,

I know that Sascha is very bad in communication. I have some contact with him myself, and even do some dtp for him/Abbuc, and he is a person he makes too many promises he can keep... ;) Normally I don't care, I know many more people who act the same.

But what worries me, is that the board seems to wait for Sascha. I know that in Germany there is a lot of hierarchy (I worked for a German company), but it surprises me that all the others in the board are waiting for a reply from Sascha.... In Holland we don't have that kind of hierarchy. When someone in a board is not available, then the other board members take over... And that does not seem to happen at Abbuc....

I don't know the other board members personally, but I hope that they will stick together and talk about this.

Thanks for your message!

Kind regards, Fred

Hello Fred, I know Thomas personally, and Dirk a little bit. In my opinion Dirk, being from Northern Germany, doesn't want to take over from 2nd to 1st President. The people from Schleswig-Holstein, from where he is, are cool and quite and take things easy. I was there for my "Zivildienst" 30 years ago. For me, coming from Baden-Württemberg, this was a very different thing there. But even Dirk now seems to be in a kind of rage against Sascha, because Sascha doesn't do his Job as Chairman of the board. Sascha really doesn't even answer to requests by other members of the board!

I think its a bad idea making somebody with serious mental problems a chairman of the board! A few years ago, when Sascha was head of the Software at ABBUC, he also suddenly disappeared. Nobody knew anything about him. Someday it turned out that he spent some time in the Psychiatry. I know other people having psychiatric problems and I also know something about Psychology. If I had to decide between 2 persons for a Chairman-Job, one without mental problems and one with mental problems, I would never ever take the person with mental problems, because there would be may problems in the future resulting from this decision when taking the person with mental problems. There are two kinds of persons with mental problems. The first kind thinks: "I am unable to do anything correctly!" The second kind thinks: "I am the greatest! Nobody could do anything better than I do!" I think Sascha belongs to the second kind of people.

Hi Markus,

That was not what I was trying to say. I have heard about the supposed mental problems of Sascha and I don't mind. I am not judging people.

What I was trying to say, is that the board consists of more people than Sascha. I don't know why the others do NOT take over during the periods that Sascha is unavailable. I am not saying that someone else must be the chairman, chairman is just a title and nothing more in my opinion.

I am saying that the board is a group of people and the group has a responsibility in this club.

Kind regards, Fred

Hello Fred, It is typial for Germans, being in a position to make decisions, then to hide behind eachother. Nobody wants to make the decisions. Sascha, being a kind of unavailable for everyone since summer, has nothing to do on the position of a chairman of the board. A chairman is like a german "Geschäftsführer". This is a job with a big responsibility! He is the person who has to decide in the end, especially when the rest of the board is hiding behind his position. This has nothing to do with judging other people. It is just normal in every job, when somebody doesn't do his job, after being asked to do it many times, he has to leave.

Markus,

Well, that is a big difference then when you look at The Netherlands. Over here a chairman is not automatically the person who does the most work or the one with the most responsibility.

Over here, a board is a team. A team that does all the work, some do more, some do less. If someone of the team (even the chairmen) is not available, then the others take over. The work still has to be done.

Abbuc is not a company but a Verein. In my opinion Abbuc does not have to be like a company. But I think we both agree, that the way the board of Abbuc works now is not very good.

I don't mind at all if Sascha has/had mental problems, or that he is unavailable a lot. I do mind that everything seems to stop when Sascha is unavailable and that is in my opinion a problem. A problem of the complete board.

Have a good night!

Fred
